Arcona Yachts are delighted to announce that the new Arcona 435 has won European Yacht of the Year 2019 in the Performance Cruiser category.
After testing the Arcona 435, YACHT Germany, said, “Whether you’re on the regatta circuit or dedicated to cruising, the Arcona 435 offers the full package, with no need to compromise as she harmoniously combines both racing and comfort.”
Voted for by 12 well-known and respected yachting magazines, the 435 was put through her paces on test. It was a tough battle between the three boats nominated in the performance cruiser category, one of the hardest according to the jury, and in the end, it was the sailing qualities of the Arcona 435 that made her come out on top.
“This Arcona is proof that the pure joy of sailing wins when it comes to performance cruisers. It’s an elegant package, with nothing fancy – indeed it has very conservative styling throughout – but it’s one that delivers on easy fast sailing.” – Toby Hodges, Yachting World.
The Arcona Yachts Team collected the award. Torgny Jansson, Founder of Arcona Yachts, said, “We are thrilled to win this award for the Arcona 435. As the Arcona 435 was Stefan Qviberg’s last design before he sadly passed away last year, the Arcona 435 is a fantastic legacy of his great work. This award is a well-deserved accolade and fitting tribute.”
The European Yacht of the Year award is the most important, influential and most widely communicated boatbuilding prize worldwide. Often referred to as the ‘Oscar’ of yachting it reaches an international audience of several million sailing enthusiasts, boat owners and industry executives. Initiated by German sail magazine YACHT, it was first presented at boot Düsseldorf in 2004. Today 12 magazines from all over Europe make up the jury, each of them the leading voice in their respective countries and respected beyond national borders. The awards ceremony was held on the first evening of the 50th boot Düsseldorf.
